"Mortal Decisions" SymposiumThe Center for Applied Ethics is sponsoring an evening symposium entitled "Mortal Decisions" to explore the ethical considerations that can inform a family's decision to withhold or withdraw medical treatment from a critically ill relative. Presenters include John D.. Golenski, S.J., Ph.D., of the Bioethics Consultation Group in Berkeley, and Michael B. Stevens, M.D., of the Family Practice Residency Program of San Jose Hospital. Dr. Golenski will explore the issues from the perspective of counselor and clergy-person, while Dr. Stevens will present the issues from the perspective of a physician. The symposium will be held on Tuesday, May 3, at 7 p.m., in the de Saisset Museum at Santa Clara University. The symposium is free and open to the public; no registration is required. |
