Markkula Center of Applied Ethics

Moberg Assumes Leadership of Ethics Center

Dennis MobergDennis Moberg was appointed in September as acting executive director of the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics. A professor of management at Santa Clara University, as well as the Presidential Professor of Ethics and the Common Good, Moberg is nationally recognized for his research on business ethics. He has won several awards for undergraduate and graduate teaching.

"With experience as associate dean of the Business School and chair of the Management Department, Moberg has proven administrative and leadership ability," said Don Dodson, vice provost for academic affairs and University planning, when he announced the appointment.

Moberg replaces Thomas Shanks, who will continue with the Center as director of Business and Public Policy Programs, many of which he initiated. "Under Shanks' leadership, the Center has become an important resource for businesses, public policy makers, and nonprofit organizations," Dodson said.

The University is currently conducting a nationwide search for a permanent executive director, expected to take over the helm in fall 2000.
