Leah Rabin
Leah Rabin is the widow of assassinated Israeli Prime Minister
Yitzhak Rabin. She served with her husband in the Palmach,
the secret commando unit of the pre-state underground Jewish
army, where he became a war hero. She accompanied him as
he rose in the Labor Party to become the first native-born
Israeli prime minister in 1974 and 1992, and was with him
when he was assassinated in late 1995 by law student Yigal
Amiras as the couple was leaving a peace rally in Tel Aviv.
Since the assassination, Leah Rabin has been an outspoken
critic of impediments to the peace process.
