The School of Education and Counseling Psychology at Santa Clara University (SCU) is committed to protecting and safeguarding the individual privacy of applicants and their parents or guardians by restricting the use of all collected information. This privacy statement applies to the School of Education and Counseling Psychology Application (the Application) located at the following URL:
By using the Application, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Statement.
Information you provide
The information submitted in the Application may be used by School of Education and Counseling Psychology officials only for admission processing, and for communication with you about the status of your application.
The only personally identifiable information SCU collects through the Application is that which is voluntarily provided by our prospective applicants and their parents or guardians. In order to complete the Application form, some information is required. These fields are noted with an asterisk (*) in the Application form.
Information about your use of the Application will be recorded in the Web server access log files. The log file record does not include any personally identifiable information; we collect this data for aggregate statistics and server performance monitoring.
Sharing information with others
SCU will share personally identifiable information about you when one or more of the following conditions apply:
- We have your consent to share the information.
- We respond to subpoenas, court orders or legal process.
- We employ other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf, such as processing credit card payments. They have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes.
The Application uses a feature of your browser to set a "cookie" on your computer. We store your login ID as an encrypted string to determine whether you are logged in to your Application. We also check which Web browser software you are using, and store this information in a cookie in order to optimize the Application form display for your browser. The cookie expires when you click the "logout" link, or exit your Web browser.
Every browser allows you to reject cookies or to choose which cookies you will accept. Rejecting cookies, however, will interfere with your ability to use the online Application form; you will need to enter your login id and password for each page, and the form display may not be optimized for your Web browser software.
We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input. It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer. Be sure to log off or exit your browser software when finished using a shared computer.
At times, you may receive e-mail messages from us regarding the status of your Application. We will not use your e-mail address for communications not directly related to your Application.
If you are under 18, you may use the Application only with the involvement
of a parent or guardian.
